Title: Factory Wiring Question
Post by: 9F94M567042 on August 16, 2016, 07:39:37 PM
Hey There,
While working on my car today, 1969 Mercury Cougar XR7, I have notice an issue with the wiring. Was it common practice to wrap a harness within a harness? I have power windows in this car and the harness for the window safety relay (2wires) is wrapped by itself and then is part of the speed control wiring and wrapped within that wiring. I don't know if it has always been like this or if these should be separate wire assemblies.

This is NOT a concourse restoration I'm doing, just wondering.

Thanks Much

I am guessing the wires are under the hood? Simplest thing in my mind is, is it the vinyl wrap(factory) or black sticky tape (repair job)

Yes, this is in the engine compartment. You ask a good question, I'll look into that in the next few days and let you know what I find. Thanks for the reply
