Title: Speedometer gears
Post by: ruppstang on February 16, 2017, 09:16:46 PM
I currently have a 15 tooth speedometer gear in my 67 Mustang W/ 4spd trans and it reads 5mph slow. I do not wish to change the drive gear. It there a source for a 14 tooth speedometer gear?

I have no record of Ford ever producing a 14 tooth driven gear in the style you need and no repro either.
You could use an existing ratio adapter if the math works or have one custom made with the ratio you need.
It would be cheaper to replace the drive gear.
Sorry,
Scott

Thanks Scott, that is what I thought. The car has a 2:79 rear axel and I am thinking of changing it to a 3:00 or a 3:25. then I should be ok with the speedometer gears available.
