Hi All, Working on a 66,mid April, San Hose car. Would the windshield washer bag be white letter, or
gold letter? Have heard that some late 66 cars had the gold lettered bags.
Thanks, Doug

I've got original cars with white printing through July 66

Thanks Jeff, As always, good info. Doug

Based on pictures provided by Jeff, months ago, my MAR 66 METUCHEN car had gold lettering.
From this we can conclude that different plants may have started using the 67 style with
gold lettering, at different times.

I'm pretty sure the washer bag on my mid March 66 SJ built car is original, and it is a faded gold lettered version. Hard to know for sure as I could not verify everything as original with the PO, but its been off the road or in my posession for about 35 years.

Would suggest that on an old worn original washer bag may be difficult to distinguish between a dirty white and gold - especially from some angles. Let's look further to see if we can find some more examples.
With that said mid April is a ways from "late" in the production year ;) Lets see what else we can find since my resource pool can be a little shallow at times

I realize I am resurrecting a five year old thread, but I haven't been able to find an answer using the search tool. I can barely see the lettering on my Jan 20th bucked Metuchen hardtop but I can clearly make out that it is the "Ford" script type with the windshield washer only caution above the script and a flip top. I can't make out color but it is the same as the reproductions being sold that are gold. It IS NOT like the "FOMOCO" white reproductions that are being sold. My question is:
Were there both white and gold versions of the "Ford" script ones or were the "Ford" ones all gold and the "FOMOCO" ones all white?
Thanks,
Tom
