I'm not inventive enough to figure out how to make the hard card board visors.
Does anyone know who makes good repro parts ?    Making repro parts, not selling repro parts.

There might not be much of a market, but I am guessing when the '65s were being sold, not
many paid the upgrade for foam padded visors. They probably only cost a few dollars.
I know I never gave it a thought back then.

You might want to start with other Ford models and see if there are any repro's being made for them using the same material.  A good trim shop might be able to help you also.

The sunvisors you describe are the "standard" sunvisors for your car.  The Padded Sunvisors were an option.  The Standard sunvisors are not available as a reproduction that I know of.

The Padded Sunvisors were not part of the 65 Pony interior package, correct?  Seems odd someone would select the Pony interior but not the padded sunvisors but I guess it could have happened. ??

Wow.. Never seen those!  Great stuff!  I always thought that all visors were "padded"..

Tony, betcha HAVE seen them before but didn't realize what you were looking at. Last weekend I was watching the James Bond movie "Thunderball" (for the millionth time!). Honestly, since the beginning of the year I've watched it at least 4 times. I love seeing the Wimbledon White 64 1/2 convertible in it. I've slowly picked up more and more details on the car. Well, when I watched this past weekend I took notice of a really clear shot of the sunvisors. Lo and behold whaddya know...white UN-padded sunvisors!!!  :o

I never get tired of those movies as well. I have to knit pick you white 64 1/2 vert="Goldfinger". I'm sure that's what you meant as they both have nice early verts in them.

Thanks for the correction guys. My brain said "Goldfinger", but my fingers typed Thunderball. If you'd have asked me what I typed, I would have SWORN I listed Goldfinger! :o

I looked at a car that had unpaded visors. I think with a little effort they can be made. Take a set of padded, carefuly take the seams off the strip that covers the front, remove the padding, strech and re-seam.

Just a throey at this point. I have not tried this and moveing so can't tinker ATM.

That wouldn't work if correctness is desired.  The originals had no covering at all.  They were just fiber material with a grain pattern pressed into them and then colored properly.  The stitched binding on the edge is similar, if not the same, as the padded visors.

I have an NOS black convertible board-type visor.  When I get over to the storage unit, I'll try to remember to get it.

OK, thought I had something there. They looked like they just had the mookskin covering the cardboard not the pattern in the cardboard itself.

My original set definitely has the moonskin pressed into the cardboard then painted.
