Early Boss 302 valve covers??
« on: November 05, 2016, 09:49:30 AM »
HI folks,
I am new here and just trying to get some definite information on these valve covers. I have done lots of searching online but can not find these stamped steel painted covers with the inside drippers in them. Also as you can see they are labeled as early Boss 302. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

I will be corrected if I'm off base here but based on a few general things I see they look like 1970 VC's. The '69 covers had a square corner near the oil filler. Both of yours are clearly notched ala '70 style. Secondly they both appear to be left side covers. Last, all '69 and early '70 Boss VC's were chrome plated, not painted. Other than the drip rail inside I'd almost believe they were from a 351C and not a Boss 302.

As I stated I'm sure others with more extensive knowledge here will correct any errors in my observation, but based on my limited knowledge that's what I see.

IMHO Not early 69 Boss 302 - I've got one of the first

Don't ever trust the labels    ::)

Guess you didn't get the answer in your post over on the Boss 302 Registry Forum

Looks like both posts were at about the same time. Were you just casting a wide net?  There may be some overlap between the forums but each may provide a unique perspective.

No problem but as mentioned most of the heavily involved people monitor the bigger- more accepted sites so expect the same or very similar answers. At the same time it can (not saying always)  "I didn't get the answer I wanted from mom so I'll ask dad"  sort of thing ;)

Looks like the guy just got this one wrong or based it on something that was thought correct sometime in the past.
