The 'A' designates a deviation from the base configuration.  In the case of a deluxe interior coupe, the quarter trim vinyl is most likely the difference.  Not sure what would have triggered the change or if it was possible to order it specifically.

Dave that is good information. Thanks for the source and Brian for posting it up. Charles the car does in fact have the vinyl cover steel 1/4's
