Rear drum brake anchor pin PLATE

(1/2) > >>

Matt1968:
Spent hours researching this part and still no conclusive answer.  Mustang Unlim and NPD list this as part # 2028.  Ford # c4uz-2028-a.  Description says this part is only for 9" diameter drums.  Does anyone know why they would not work on 10" ? My 10" drums are either missing these or did not come with them.
This video shows them being used during the rebuild:

But I am seeing websites and other videos where people are not even using these plates during their brake rebuilds.   Are they even necessary?  What is the real story?

PraireBronze:
"brake shoe guide anchor pin" is a only used on 6 cylinder mustangs.  I don't know why.  The 8 cylinder backing plate does not have the necessary boss on the pin.

This picture was sent to me by Jack at dead nuts on of his 69 cj with the same elongated diamond shaped plate as seen on the video mentioned above

J_Speegle:
Matt what year and model are you working on??  Might be the place to start  ::)

Matt1968:
Anyone?  Someone must be knowledgeable on this plate.
