Horn Wire Black Out Process - Oct 64 San Jose
« on: February 12, 2018, 05:35:34 PM »
How was the horn wire black out process done? Was it by spray can or did someone do it with a brush?

Jeff,

Yes, usual SJ, Oct 64.  I think I remember when my dad first got the car in 1992 he cleaned up the horn wires because there was black on them.

Fine - didn't want anyone to get confused and assume that the detail applied to their car automatically.

The "black out" was done with the adhesive/sealant (likely when the worker applied it to the firewall openings)  and with paint.  Let me look at some of my records and examples and report back. In the middle of reviewing some other stuff for another at the moment  :)

Just remembered that I posted pictures of that detail in the thread focusing on the Oct 64 San Jose fastback. Reply #22

On that car they used the sealer as mentioned. In the pictures most of the stuff has cracked and fallen off of the wires (might have had some help) but you can still make out the application around the wire opening and the surrounding radiator support and on a bit of the horns
