1972 differential housing paint markings
« on: October 10, 2010, 01:50:39 PM »
The attached photo is what I found when I cleaned the differential housing. I've never seen such a large marking. Has anyone seen something similar?
Thanks, Chuck

chuck,

is it the silver looking shapes?  a little hard to make out the marking you are referring to.

Does not look like a factory paint mark IMHO- more of a previous owner painting the center section and it has weather poorly

Have not see one like that - but have seen that a result of the common "lets paint the rearend with a rattle can"

The marks are the ones that appear to be 3 pointed arrows. The color is white. It appears to be applied directly over the factory black. I've never seen anything like it. I hope it is not original as it looks awful.

Thanks to all for the feedback,
Chuck
