Emergency brake cable bracket
« on: November 18, 2010, 11:16:22 AM »
Here is a pic of the eergency brake cable bracket right below the brake booster. I recently saw a car which has this as zinc di-chromate. It was a 68 Dearborn car produced 3 weeks prior to mine. Is it supposed to be ZD? I ask because both the cable and brakets looked new on the car i saw so I suspect finish may have been changed. Getting ready to send a batch of parts out to the plater and want to get them all done.

The 2 pronged bracket is natural steel.

Bolt can be phosphate or zinc.

Clip has the red dye applied.

1967s seem to use cadmium nuts, but i have seen phosphate/oil on later in the production year.

Also, the spring retainer clip is phosphate/oil with red dye applied over top.

Well since I don't need to plate it tried installing it. There is no room to be able to put the clip in. The wave washer and bracket make it impossible. Do you assemble on a bench and then put the screws into the bracket? Or should I disconnect the steel wrapped cable from under the floor pan?
