289 oil pan differences
« on: January 25, 2011, 02:16:53 PM »
Hello,
I am in the process of building a late model roller 302 to go in a 68 fastback so I am changing to a front sump pan. On a 289 oil pan, some are "scalloped" on the sides at the rear of the pan to clear the steering linkage and some are not. Can someone tell me what models used the clearanced pan? Will a regular smooth pan without the scalloped in areas clear the steering linkage on a 68 or do I need the pan with the clearanced areas? Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.
