I've searched through posts and found discussion and pictures on the machined surfaces and finish of the removeable carrier. My question is on the housing itself, specifically 8" for a 67. Is the surface where the studs penetrate and the carrier bolts to supposed to be painted along with the axle, or left bare due to machining? I can see swirl marks from machining, but of course it could have been painted after that process. Thanks John
