70 shelby tail light covers
« on: November 24, 2014, 03:51:03 PM »
got my nice pair of blue/grey tail light covers from jack at dead nuts on.  rh fits perfect but  on the left side my calif vapor bracket interferes with fitment-  so did they cut a notch out of the cardboard panel or did they notch the rear corner of bracket.  cardboard would be the easy way to go.   also did the license plate light ground wires go to same spot on the gas filler support?  rgds  david june/69  gt500 dso'd california

As for the cardboard to vapor return clearance issue can't find any reference pictures so don't know for sure what they did.  Would not think they would trim the Ford part that was already there instead of the panel they were adding at AO Smith that was out of the car and unattached. Can't be certain that the cardboard was cut and not just bent.

Maybe another member has seen an original section of taillight cardboard installed on a 70 California delivered car.

Believe the ground is attached in the same location as other 70's

thanks for the reply jeff- i hope there's more input-  i can cut a notch out of the cardboard but i'll wait.  about the ground screw- i asked if both ground loop eyes went to same location? guess that goes for all 69/70 shelbys.  just looked in my 64-70 restoration guide  page 322 there's two ford drawings of 69/70 shelby rear light fixtures et all.  all ground eyelets go together and attach to lh side of gas filler tube support- at least that what looks like to me.
