Early 1964-1/2 Convertible Project Car- PRICE REDUCED
« on: April 08, 2012, 01:45:54 AM »
I'm reducing the price on this car- Need the space for other projects! Now $6000 or best offer

1964-1/2 Mustang Convertible, March 19, 1964, 5F08F102169, Rangoon Red w/black top & interior. Options include 260 V-8, Automatic, console, rocker mouldings, 2 spd wipers, radio, power top. Memphis DSO, standard wheelcovers. Nearly all of the 64-1/2 details are intact including the headlight buckets, generator and shielding, large horns, hydraulic brake light switch, oiler distributor, early PCV, early NON-lip hood (dated Dec 1963), 2 speed blower, GEN indicator, small shifter handle, fixed pass seat (supposedly 1st month only?), square edged sill plates, torch cut front framerail lip (for tire clearance), louvered radiator support (rust damaged), early parking light assemblies,, pigtailled taillight housings, rubber plugs in trunk floor on driver's side, etc.

Appears to have all of the original sheetmetal except for poorly installed rear quarter skins. Most of the exterior sheetmetal needs work or replacement, trunk floors and main frame rails in good shape, but the inner rocker rails. front torque boxes and floor pans are rusty. The body shop had already cut one door skin and both rear quarters before the previous owner stopped the project (Yes, this is the car that was on display at Waldorf). I bought the car in a partially disassembled state and reassembled it (it does run and drive). Most sheetmetal dates are March 1964 (found one brace in the trunk dated January 1964). Door frames appear to be in good usable condition.

Original engine in place with what appears to be all of the correct date coded components (including the carburetor and tag) intact. Most parts dated January 1964. Radiator is an incorrect replacement.

This car is not for the novice or casual restorer, but is a pretty unusual pre-introduction car, and a desirable color combination (door tag still in place). I got to look at #211 last week and got all worked up about this car again, but I'm in the middle of two race car restoration projects, can't justify hanging on to it. Good title. $6000 or reasonable offer. Car is located in Smithfield VA. I will not sell it sight unseen; if you are seriously interested, plan on coming to look at it. PM me, email dave66gt350@gmail.com or (757)-810-2512 (after 430PM or anytime weekends)

Thanks,
Dave
