Title: 1967 engine block numbers
Post by: Hipo giddyup on June 06, 2017, 12:41:51 PM
Just thought I'd post this for interest. These are the remnants of a 1967 block out of a C code Mustang. As you can see the date range is from June 22nd  (block casting) to June 28th (engine assembly), 1967. The button top fuel pump is dated 17G7A which should be June 17th 67'? It's neat to see how these numbers are pretty close. I do not have any vin info or door tag. Unfortunately the motor is totally locked up, rusted and frozen, with a cracked cylinder so I have salvaged as much as I can off the block before it will be discarded. It had been left outside uncovered for many decades.  :'(

Can you post the model number? It should be on the RH top flange opposite the date code.

Another 302 block used as a 289 (C8 casting). It will have "302" cast into the lifter valley.

Does anyone one recall the earliest date known (found) on these 302/289 engines?

Nothing on the cars info Jeff. The owner had pasted away and his son was selling this for parts. The car was long gone, years ago. I assume this motor failed and they replaced it.

The intake was off of it for a very long time so all of the lifters have exploded in the bores from rust. The lifter valley is a mess but I will try and get a pic of the 302 cast there.
