Those two from me are from 2 virgin KRs that just came into my shop yesterday. Note the cool flat rubber cap
Just to be clear its not a KR thing but Mustang thing. Because all KRs were built after Feb they would have the manifold

Is the cool flat rubber cap a unique piece?

Unique, yes in so much that it only came from the OEM of the check valve that way . I have only found them on original check valves used or NOS . I have never found them on anything else . All others I have seen had some variation of a rounded end cap on them. Just my personal observations.

Interesting.  Don't know if the ID is correct but just came across some new flat rubber caps in my misc parts stash.

The question I have is the side entry (Marty's) vs center entry (all others) on the check valves. :)

Not sure if I understand "center entry (all others)" ? The one in Marty's picture is typical for a later 68. Can you elaborate of show a picture?

The design difference through both Marty and I off. If you zoom into the picture you can see what I am talking about. The vacuum nipple in the center of the valve and Marty's more on the side. Are all three of these styles going to be accepted?  A little late tonight Bob?

Looks like the one Marty posted may be "bent" or changed shape over the years due to stress and heat pulling it at a slight panel rather than the 90 degree angle to the base the other ones have

Just looking at possibilities

As for being "accepted" the general focus on this site is more about what is correct and original rather than how each organization will handle an issue - except for discussions posted in those appropriate Club Judging sections ;)

There were three cars with the identical valve. I think they shared their supplier. Thanks for your help everyone.

Reply#11,12,13 have pictures of typical assemblyline check valves for later 68. The one in Reply #2 is not typical.

Agreed. The slanted angle is not assembly line style

Good to know we were not wrong in thinking something was not right with those check valves.

They certainly are not assembly line style, but it sounds like several people took some of the comments to mean the "manifold" valves were not used at all.  As a judge, we have all had to stamp out those fires before....

Bought another used white check valve with flat end cap on Ebay yesterday.
paid $10 for it. They are still out there. A NOS one is available for $109.
