Reproduction 1966 Disc Master Cylinder
« on: April 01, 2010, 10:36:53 PM »
Hello,

I have a question about my new master cylinder.  I have bought a reproduction 1966 disc brake master cylinder.  I found a tag in the box from the manufacturer that said it was NOT to be bench bled do to the OEM seal design.  I didn't bench bleed it and now I can not get my brakes to work at all.  Should I pull the master back out of the car and bench bleed it anyhow?  I have tried everything under the sun with no luck.  I am at my wits end here.  I have got to get my car on the road in the next few days.

Thanks for the help.
Rubber helps protect.  I do my part to protect the steets by laying down rubber every chance I get.

You may have a bad unit-my restorer couldn't get the first one he put on my car to work so he got a replacement.
I would think if you have done everything right that you would eventually get a pedal even if you didn't bench bleed the mc.

Thanks C5ZZKGT,

I am thinking the same thing about it being bad.  However, the vendor swears that there is nothing wrong with it and it is in my brake system.  Do you know if your restorer bench bled the master first?

Thanks again,

No, I really don't know if my restorer bench blead the mc or not. Who did you buy yours from? if they are a stand up outfit they will exchange it for you. is your prop valve ok? is it rebuilt?
