Per Bossbill?s suggestion, I tried some Pinata Sante Fe red ink.  Here?s a photo of how it compares in color to red nut  from an NOS strut kit.   Appears pretty close.   The nut on the right is an original that was bead blasted then colored with the Pinata ink.  Nuts on the left are from the strut kit.  Fwiw

Is the paint on your hood original?   If so that's good as you can use it to make a pattern of the outside forward curve to use for your repaint.

The 69 paint is different from the 70 type so don't get the two mixed up. Originally it was a Ditzler/PPG product #9295but that will do you little good now. The original PPG/Ditzler formula has not been available for decades but TCP Global reformulated current paints to work for this task. Latest I've seen it guys purchasing the correct 69 (70 is different) paint from TCP Global. If you call they will know what paint it is. They also use to sell the product on Ebay, not sure they do any longer

If you lack the original pattern (take allot of measurements) there are patterns for the curve and distances between the stripe, blackout, forward hood edges that can be posted though I'm always concerned how well the curve gets reproduced from scanning and reposting but it you size it to match the side and forward line you should be in the neighborhood.

Worked for me

Your very welcome. Sure with that color combination and the freshness of the build it really must turn some heads when driven around town. Hard to miss this one.

Good luck

1967 Mustang / 1967 Front Bumper Overstamped Factory Codes
« Last post by kkupec02 on Today at 01:26:33 PM »
I have been looking for a matching date stamped front bumper to match my factory original rear bumper. I came across a front bumper locally that I bought for $30 with over stamps. I assume it is a factory replacement part but couldn't go wrong for that price while I continue the search.  The date codes are top line: 11 over stamped on an 8, then 6 2 M 2 with the M over stamped on a 9 or vice versa. Lower line: upside down 2 then 6 7, then 8 1 with something under the 8 maybe a 1? Any guesses on what I bought? Thinking early over the counter replacement. Thanks.

1969 Mustang / Mach one hood treatment

I?m getting ready to paint the hood stripes on my Mach One. I am having difficulty figuring out what type of paint to use. My old stripes were matte black, with some notable texture. Is there someone that can let me know how to make authentic stripes. If you recommend products, please be specific. I would appreciate exact paint code numbers if possible. Thanks

I restored / modified this car to an extremely high standard as a 'life experience' for the lack of a better term. Originally a lime gold 302-2V auto convertible with dark ivy gold standard interior. I couldn't bring myself to restore the car to an 'as delivered' condition especially since the original engine and transmission were long gone.

Once I made the determination to go GT500 clone, I needed some references to go by. This website was the best reference I had during the build. I learned more here than anywhere else. Questions I couldn't find answers to by going through old posts were answered one at a time by many contributors but especially Bob Gaines and Jeff Speegle.

I found I liked looking at the car better than driving it so I sold it very recently. Thanks to all that helped.

Fun facts

Comfortweave was not used on convertibles (including Mustangs)

GT500 KRs fastbacks with black interiors got the comfortweave

There was no saddle comfortweave in Shelbys

Some 68 GT 350 got comfortweave too.
