Also believe the C4AF-11001- isn't the correct engineering number for a 66 6 cylinder with automatic starter.

What would the correct engineering number be? Looks like I may need to have a new stamp made. :)

Looking at the original car in the link in the earlier post and others it appears C3AF-11001-A would be correct

I finally get a day off after working 12 hours a day 7 days a week for 2 months straight...yes I am serious. So what do I decide to do with my day. Fix issues Jeff pointed out on my Convertible. He is such a trouble maker.  ;)

I am sure other could have feathered the leading edge better but I am happy with it. I also stripped the feather edge of the starter a bit and restamped it.

I just started cleaning the dealer undercoating off the car. I know it won’t be as “fresh” as a full undercarriage restoration but it will be original. I will be replacing any suspension parts that aren’t correct or are worn and cleaning up those that are. I have not painted anything, just cleaned with scrapers and mineral spirits, that little bit of black overspray I would assume is when they originally painted the engine compartment at the factory.

This is why I love California classic cars.  8)

Spent many hours on my back doing just that on a February build, San Jose, 66 GT Fastback about 20 years ago. It was my learning experience. The second one was supposed to be easier. Ug.

A little more done today. This is going to take awhile...

Nothing but carefully scraping the top layer of undercoating and lots of rags and mineral spirits. Very messy. The factory was messy with blacking out. Lots of runs.

A little more done today. It’s like a time capsule. Before and after is telling.  :)

The scrapes near the hold down area were under the undercoating. Probably on the assembly line or in shipping.
