AC Bracket / Tag / J Clip
« on: February 08, 2010, 04:22:48 PM »
For a 65 SJ fastback:  Does anyone know the correct order this should be placed in or if the j clip should even be held on with the same bolt as the bracket that goes from the compressor to the back of the manifold?  I tired to put the j clip then the tag under bracket but it doesnt seem like that fits very well.  Anyone have a pic as to how it should go?  Also is the j clip for this the same exact clip that goes along the valve covers or is it slightly different?

Thanks
Chris

Chris here is the  clearest picture I have to offer. It is the same orientation I see on most of the 66 SJ cars also (bottom picture)

Hope this helps

Jeff,

That helps a little,  do you know what order it should be in?  Should the j clip be under or over the tag?  Also is this j clip the same as the ones on the valve cover?  NPD sells both but at different prices...When I put it on it looks like it should be longer to clear the bracket a little better...

Excuse me if this is a thread highjack, but my 9/65 SJ car has this A/C compressor, and the original owner says the car had A/C when he bought it.  No bolt on tag, just this riveted on one on the front.  What do you think?

OK, so they all have both tags?  The one I posted and the bolt on one on the top?

Yes.  The compressor tag with rivets identifies the compressor.  The bolt-on tag just has service instructions for the amount of freon.
