Do you have a US ship to address? Are you over seas? If so do you use one of the companies in the US that provide the service of shipping overseas so I don't have to go through the BS and looking up requirements etc. to ship over seas?If not you may want to look into it. I have done this through ebay before so i know a individual can too.  There are many (including myself ) that will not ship over seas because of that . If you do have someone like that then contact me as I have a NOS GT emblem (painted red) never installed that I got from a former worker at the STANT factory (OEM supplier to Ford).

Bob, red used on 68, black on 67, otherwise the same.   They can of course be painted.  Just wanted to make sure that everyone is happy if there is a transaction.

Thank you . The OP stated black, that is why I posted that mine was "red" to let OP know. I take this opertunity just in case it is  not understood  that it can be easily painted black for 67. The chrome is the most important thing in this case IMO.

Is the pop open the one that would be in the exterior decor group? Has anyone purchased the Scott Drake version

I am looking for an early 67 one as well

Thanks

Hi,
I'm from Germany, Frankfurt ;-)

John is absolutely right in his statement on colors 67 vs 68.

I would not need necessarily a complete pop open, but just the GT emblem (possibly as NOS) in black.

Yes I could paint my red one, but not original than anymore.

It is possible to send items overseas to Germany by USPS for instance (Priority Mail International) very easily.

On the outside of the box there needs to be a declaration of the goods inside and a value mentioned both written on the shipping adress.

Than in this case german customs keep the part, inform me that I have to pick up the part/box personally, than to pay the fees, which is 19% tax and roughly 5 % customs duty on top of the value of the part including shipment cost.

Thats it.

Some people @ ebay are using ebay shipment cost and fees directly in their auction (for oveseas). In this case  buyer has paid everything directly (e.g. via PayPal) and the goods will be shipped diretly to shipping adress as well. No further cost will occur.
Of course seller needs to evaluate the shipping cost and shipping method  by himself.

So, if smb has a gas cap emblem, or a full kit (in black) to sell on a reasonable price, pls let me know.

Many thanks.

Don't know what you wanna say with your comment...

So far, I could find only some repros. Here I do not know the quality. If smd has made some nice  experience with a good source, pls let me know.
Many thanks.

Haven't shopped for a reproduction one for a while but thought I would at least offer some things to check for that were standard on them for at least a while

At one point the caps came with a separate gas cap that screwed onto the filler neck rather than being connected to the pop open lid

Don't know that any reproduction is going to have the original style of casting that the early 67 version had. Would guess (was a common practice) that the reproducers would have used a NOS/service replacement as their master which, if they did include the detail, would have had the later markings

I am unsure if you are translating German into English or you just misunderstood my English written meaning. Try - Sorry it wasn't good enough because it would have been for free. Hopefully that is more understandable.  A friend gave the GT emblem to me for free . He worked at Stant who made them for Ford. He would expect me to do the same thing if I passed it along to another enthusiast since it was gifted to me. It is not like it is worth a heck of a lot if circumstances were different .  If you have the opinion that stripping the red paint and repainting it with black paint is not going to make the part good enough then I choose not to argue the point. Besides I thought you were American Military overseas and wanted to do something nice and surprise you if we could get past the overseas shipping hassle. Best of luck with your project.

Hm....I got one for free from Bob. Really appreciated. But it is red coloured.

I'm still looking for one in black.  If I could not find any NOS in that color, I think about to re-color mine.

I gonna give the red one to smb in GER for a 68, also for free.
