A previous car of mine, a DB build mid-Dec 64 fastback had the early-style slide plate/carriage bolt spare tire hold down. 5F09C376xxx .

Knitted option was also available when ordering a bench seat also. Neither of the options (bench or knitted) were very popular that year.

Thanks Mike.  I'll be curious what you discover.  I'm wondering how are the factory inserts put into the door and how are they supposed to stay still, not rotate.  Seems that is a common problem. I also can't tell how to remove the factory inserts without enlarging the hole and beating up the door.  If you have any thoughts on either that would be great.

I was planning to grind the top off and then install the new rivnut

the decal is D0OE-9C485-J
I helped ECS make them some years back, they still sell them.
when installed in the factory position, it was typical on the originals to have an elliptical piece of the decal get punched out on the bottom area when someone used a socket to tighten the valve cover bolt below it.

Thank you also for this info. This is fantastic.

My personal question relating to my car then is if I have two mirrors,  12-DMI-7 and 6-DMI-7, of which 12-DMI-7 was found on the driver side,  which could have been switched from one side of the car to the other when it was repainted,  was the passenger side mirror added possibly when the car was purchased to make it a dealer installed option and that would be ok for MCA driven standards or will it always be a deduction unless it's gone,  no matter?
The date codes are not considered for a deduction in the driven class.
