That  7-64 example appears to be one where the "G" was added.

Or one that was changed/relabeled from a G

C4ZE-

A = 260 M/T
B = 260 A/T
C = 170 M/T
D = 200 A/T
E = 170 M/T - XC
F = 200 A/T - XC
G = 289 M/T - XC
H = V8 A/T  (1964-1/2)
M = 289 A/T - XC
N = 170 A/T
S = V8 M/T  (1964-1/2)
T = 170 A/T
U = 200 M/T
V = 200 M/T - XC
Y = 289 M/T
Z = 289 A/T

Any help appreciated:

*Identifying which of the two, C4ZE-N or C4ZE-T, is the Extra Cooling application and/or Standard Cooling.

*Determining if C4ZE-H and C4ZE-S application was limited to 289 engines (D-code, K-code) or if they were also used on 260 engines (F-code) with factory Air Conditioning for example.

*Finding more 1964-1/2 radiator examples!

This is the first DEP C4ZE-8005-H1 example I have seen. The date code of "4FG" is same as a C4ZE-8005-T1 recorded.

Note: This example has been recored/rebuilt (with square non-factory rebuilder tag attached).

Great info. I have a 64.5 K Code, Convertible, 76A S 89 21G 13 9 5
Assembly Date of my car is July 21, 1964

DEP C4ZE 8005 –G14DD
Tag attached to front – 4DC 14 = 64, April, 3rd week.

Didn't know my radiator (HIPO) was different from all the other V8s.

G application code = 1965 / 1966 V8 289 Application Identification:
C4ZE-
G = manual transmission - Extra Cooling (C-code w/AC, A-code w/AC, K-code, GT350)

Thanks.

Is DEP an acronym for Dearborn Engine Plant or Detroit Engineering Products?

Thanks

Is this little 'loop' something added during the recore?

I have the same thing on my 65 M1 radiator.

Great info by the way!

Yes. The claws that hold the radiator together (when rebuilding) for worker soldiering leave those loops/indentations. I've seen them on the bottom of strap versus top too.

Those raised "loops" are used to clamp and tighten the straps while soldering during the rebuild, yes. But they are there from day one, as the original build used them also.

1964 - 1966 dated W-MO and DEP radiators did not have raised loops out of the factory on the straps/rails. I have unmolested / unrebuilt examples to prove this.

It would be interesting to see pictures to verify originality on the radiator you list. Off the bat, from my experience, yours sounds like a re-stamped "restoration" radiator that never existed based on the date-code versus -G1, however I will not rule out anything on 64-1/2 radiators before seeing it!

Very good question!
