Autolite,

Don't want to hijack your thread, but need groups opinion about this radiator. I uncovered it with the rest of my Hi Po parts. Has a couple of tags that I believe are radiator repair shop tags. They used them years ago to id customers radiators. Also wantwant some feed back on weather this radiator would be appropriate for an April 65 Hi Po.
Thanks

Strange I have a radiator also Stamped 4FG

I have always thought, W-MO stood for Whittier-Modine and not Western-Modine.

Is "DEP" stamped on the strap/rail? Normally its before the "C4ZE" and I don't see it visible in those photos.

I'll double check that for you.

Agree, something fishy with that one.

G2 lid dated 7-64 example.
That  7-64 example appears to be one where the "G" was added.

Or one that was changed/relabeled from a G

Great info. I have a 64.5 K Code, Convertible, 76A S 89 21G 13 9 5
Assembly Date of my car is July 21, 1964

DEP C4ZE 8005 –G14DD
Tag attached to front – 4DC 14 = 64, April, 3rd week.

Didn't know my radiator (HIPO) was different from all the other V8s.

G application code = 1965 / 1966 V8 289 Application Identification:
C4ZE-
G = manual transmission - Extra Cooling (C-code w/AC, A-code w/AC, K-code, GT350)

Thanks.

Is DEP an acronym for Dearborn Engine Plant or Detroit Engineering Products?

Thanks

Is this little 'loop' something added during the recore?

I have the same thing on my 65 M1 radiator.

Great info by the way!

Those raised "loops" are used to clamp and tighten the straps while soldering during the rebuild, yes. But they are there from day one, as the original build used them also.

Am new here, 76 and internet challenged but finally found this site and have a little info you may be able to use. Bought a 64 1/2 convert from the original owner (who passed away) a couple years back and just getting around to getting it running/driving. Radiator was replaced for some reason and car came with the original radiator in the replacement box. Nothing wrong with it - looks perfect but the numbers don't exactly compute with the radiator listings on this site. They are: DEPC4ZE 8005 A 1-4EA. It is listed on this site as being for a 260 M/T. This car is a one owner California unmodified original with the original window sticker - was used only as a daily driver. However it has the 289V8. A possible explanation: WIndow sticker states $2703.00 for a Mustang convertible V8 plus a few options like the 4 speed for $188.00 and at the bottom of the options it lists $65.70 for a 289 4V V8 engine. So evidently the radiator was used for both the 260 and 289. You may already know of this but if not it might be helpful in your listing of radiators. And I may be wrong about this assumption - would be the first time this year......Cheers.....Richard

Welcome Richard

You might post more information about the car your describing - when and where it was built as these factors are often very important in discussions.  Thanks for including the date when the radiator was made also ;) Helps in discussions like this

Since your going to be asked this  over and over you might consider  adding it to your signature (you'll be able to make that addition in your profile / button above between HELP and ADMIN)

Hope you find this site useful and helpful in your related endeavours

OK - thanks - don't know what you mean about adding "it" to my "signature" (I still use cursive) but here is all the info on the car: 1964 1/2 Mustang convertible, color J Rangoon red, Trim 86 black, Date 26E may 26, 1964, DSO 24 Jacksonville, axle 1 3:00 :1, trans 5 - 4 speed manual, aluminum tag on intake manifold - 289 - 65 - 4E - 550C, power top, 4 speed trans, 650X13 tires, rocker panel mouldings, AM radio, padded visors, 289 V8 - that's it. Guy was a little frugal with options. Assembled in Dearborn Michigan, serial number 5FO8D 146830, sent to Hailey Ford in Winter Haven, Florida - bought there and driven back to California. Any other info wanted just let me know, as the car is untouched original and is a good reference model. Richard

It is in an area under "PROFILE" header above the message board area (Home   Help   Search   PROFILE    My Messages   Calendar   ...)

You can add this information in and it will post EVERYTIME you ask or answer any questions.

I have a question regarding this radiator.  After reading the posted  radiator data, my radiator appears to be too early for 1964 1/2....maybe it's not a Mustang radiator at all... I have had it for many years and my feeble brain thinks I pulled it off a Mustang many years ago.  But the stamped markings on the side mounting says C3DE BE1.  On the top of the radiator is stamped FoMoCo, and there is a soldered tag on the top side of the tank that reads 8MB 7.  Maybe from a Falcon?

So what's the verdict on my mysterious radiator?
