Correct Judging Class for 1994 Cobra 11,700 miles
« on: October 15, 2017, 11:08:05 PM »
I recently bought a 1994 Cobra . The paint is original , tires are also. The car has 11,700 miles . The battery will be replaced with a current model Motorcraft. The oil filter has also been replaced with a current model Motorcraft. The paint and interior are very nice . I also got the pre delivery stickers that were removed during dealer prep. Looking for the right class to put it in for an MCA show. The undercarriage will be detailed during the winter as the car was stored and not driven since 2005 in a temperature controlled garage.  Class should be Un Restored or Thoroughbred ?? Need to get some judges input. I like a challenge ! Thanks . Scott Grant

What do you mean by "detailing" the undercarriage?   If its more of cleaning and derusting then (without pictures to know for sure) I would think unrestored. If your touching up, repainting and such then maybe Thoroughbred just depends on how far your taking things.

Either way you'll take your dings for this or that and learn allot in preparation for the next time.

Thoroughbred would need to look " as delivered " with no replacement parts ? Unrestored would mean cleaned with surface rust removal ? Thanks Sir for the opinions..

From the MCA site:

Restored is nothing changed, as delivered, just cleaned.  Normal wear and tear.  Folks will even make jokes about the same air in the tires.  Service parts like battery, oil filter, spark plugs, etc. have to be OEM.

Thoroughbred can be restored, or OEM parts with correct date codes.  No aftermarket or reproduction parts.

Keep in mind that the intent of the Unrestored class is 'Preservation', not restoration.
