Unrestored - 1973 6 Cylinder Convertible - Picture Thread
« on: October 21, 2017, 07:25:09 PM »
Disclaimer: :) As always we need to warn that unrestored does not always mean unaltered by previous owners. Just because this car has/had a specific detail does not mean your car was built just the same. Always do your research, document your findings and make the best choice for you and your expectations.

Cars' VIN is -  3F03L2440xx  (projected build date of about May or early June 1973). A nice example of the period and plant just dirty from storing for all these years. Car shows and was represented as having 38 miles. The pictures were posted for a sales ad publicly so they were saved to be shared with the site. Because of this we are limited to the number of pictures that were available and the choices the person taking the pictures made that day but happy we have what we have so I hope these help others though I doubt there are allot of similar cars being restored.

This is likely another example of someone purchasing a 73 with thoughts of the year was the end of an era, the last of the Mustang convertibles or even the end of the Mustang. Compared to other years there have been IMHO allot of unrestored 73s that were purchased and put away.

Enjoy This was originally posted with a incorrect VIN so it was reposted after maybe an hour   Fun work  ::)   but my mistake

Window sticker - don't think that was the original location

Eng 1-

Eng 2- Number on the top of the air cleaner?  Don't know unless these engines were installed with air cleaner attached. IF so then possibly the second rotation number

Eng 3- Not sure if the inspector did not write on the sticker before he applied it or that the writing/stamping can't be seen or didn't hold up well in storage

Eng 4- Interior of the air cleaner painted black this year and application

Eng 5-

Eng 6- Engine identification and emission stickers

Eng 7- This is a new/different detail I've not seen before. Seems to suggest that at least this year and engine that the distributor was in place before the engine was painted

Ext 1-

Int 1-

Int 2-

Int 3-

Int 4- And inspection sticker

Trnk 1- Someone has had the spare out and not reattached it or placed items back originally

Under 1- Rear spring marks and one nice fuel tank

Under 2- Rear axle tag, some paint marks and other cool details

Hope these help others

Uncommon antenna location.

Yes not what was suggested nor typical. Since they were dealer installed they are sometimes found in different locations. Had a 71 Ranchero I bought from the original owner that had it installed in the drivers side front fender for some unknown reason
