Title: 70 BOSS 429
Post by: 66 FAIRLANE on October 18, 2010, 06:32:27 PM
I was wondering if there was any undercoating over spray on lower front valance on a BOSS 429 ?

Since therfe was so much work done after these cars left Dearborn I believe they skipped the sound deadener application to the front wheel well (glad to be corrected if this in not right )

If there was no application in the wheel wells then there would be no way that overspray from that application to the front valance or bumper arms  could have taken place

BTW undercoating was applied at dealerships - sound deadener was applied at the factory on cars ;)

The answer to your question is usually no. Occasionally some Deadner made it on the outer inner valance area below the front splash shield. The 69/70 Boss 429's left Dearborn Assembly with the fenders and splash shields installed with sound deadner applied and were not removed at KKX as has been incorrectly reported in numerous magazine articles and Boss 429 books for years. The unibody modifications were made at DAP before the unibody was painted.

This is very interesting. Since I can remember it has always been written that Kar Kraft made the shock tower modifications after receiving the car from Ford. Another myth debunked.

do not ever think what is written is allways correct.
Many times things are done by people that never even understand these cars much.
