It's FINALLY finished!
« on: August 18, 2015, 10:41:08 AM »
For those of you who have been on this forum for any length of time know I have been slowly restoring a ’65 convertible that was used on the Ford Magic Skyway at the World’s Fair in 1965   This has been a VERY long and tedious job as anyone who has restored a car to this level knows. Thanks to all the members who have sent me parts, pdf files and other assorted info and help.  This community is the best anywhere online!  Thanks guys.

Congrats Gary!  Hope to see it one day.  Will you have a rail setup at shows for free rides?  ;-)

Charles-considering the engine may never be fired that may be a legitimate option.... ;)

Whatever you do, DO NOT ROLL IT OVER CRACKS ON THOSE TRANSPORT ROLLERS YOU SHOW IN YOUR PROFILE PICTURES!  ;)

I've heard horror stories about those things   :o :)  ::)

Gary, I love your dedication to authenticity. Like Charles +1 on hoping to see it in person one day.

Thanks for the reminder on those rollers, a nightmare that I thought was behind me! :(

And yes, authenticity is why we are all here in the first place.  If you look closely at the photo you'll see the car actually has '66 style spinner caps on it.  That's how it was delivered to the original owner, off the Ford resale lot, in December of '65 after the Fair was over.  Strange but true.

Congratulations!  This has been a joy to learn about the history of this car and its return to remarkably original condition. I do have a question though, are they ever really done????  :)

It would be sort of neat to create a display to include a rail section under the car to illustrate how it began its life.  I am not sure many folks know about the Skyway.  I know i did not and found it very interesting to learn about.

I know MCA rules forbid displays, but it does bring out some unique a notable history.  Either way great restoration and thank you for sharing as you progressed down the long path.

Congratulations. Glad to see a car with 'history' get properly restored. I don't get worked up over a garden variety car that has 'been around' getting some mods. It bothers me when a car that has history or is a survivor gets altered. Too many very nice 6 cylinder cars were changed to V8s.

Congratulations !!  EVERYONE here "kind of knows" what you went through (and some might not know the efforts on such a rare car).

P.S.  I'm just glad that there wasn't a post 3 weeks ago "from the storm in Traverse City" about your car !!
