69 boss 429 driveshaft markings

Would like to restore the driveshaft.  Have seen under body pictures with conflicting markings and different colors. There doesn't seem to be a source like there is for the Boss 302. Thanks

Looked at my collection and I don't have enough solid data to recommend any markings. Good think is that their easy to add later ;)

When was your B9 assembled at Kar Kraft?

If your drive shaft is still in original condition, you can soak it in a rust solution that will bring out the original paint stripes on the shaft, and also the paint markings on the ends.

There are differences that I have found on 1969 original shafts.

Built Feb 69. I will try the rust remover this weekend but it was re-painted years ago and might have been bead blasted. Yes. I am finding out markings apparently varied. Either that or other well known restorers have differed opinions on what is correct.

I have a very early KK February build 69 as well. I soaked the original drive shaft and took pictures and measurements during the process on where the stripes and paint daubs are on the ends. So my restoration is documented. I can send you the measurements when I get back home over the weekend.

I suggest you use a PVC pipe and cut out a section to set shaft into bath. you will need a large c-clamp to hold shaft down as it will float other wise. It will need to be rotated every hour over 24hrs. take pictures and mark the pvc area.

 Seans car is very early &had both engines in it at kk  so some features may be different than later production & his car is very original & bought from OO so its mostly unmolested .   Just don't go by the all the buildsheet color codes on a 69 b9.

The build on his car at Dearborn is February 28th. The detail I shared would be too early for his car and would most
likely be different per Ed. Brian's B9 was released from KK March 12, 1969. Do we have anyone out there with
some drive shaft detail that Brian can work from? This is an early KK1400 #.

Believe that would have been the driveline markings for the 4 speed R code at Dearborn (and those colors match those cars) rather than the Boss 429 is was built into later from my understanding. Sure this will be corrected if the info is incorrect - I only had one Boss 9 in the past

BTW the "G" at the end is not part of the paint coding but the number that the driveline was assigned. May have indicated the bin or rack the driveline was in for the worker to find.
