1969 san jose F code shield caliper

hello are there some one there know what the finish for the factory is on the shield caliper and the strut rods . thanks

Shield = semi-gloss black
Strut rod. Darkened heat quenched steel. If you do a search you will find ways others have discovered to achieve this finish in their restorations

jeff I think he means caliper shield (silver)   not rotor shield (black) but not sure what he is asking.

Good point as you can see I took the request as the dust shield. The smaller shield around the caliper itself was galvanized

what about the bolts there is holding the bracket, caliper slide too the spindle was they phosphate and oil coating
and was all the bolts too all the suspension and drivetrain also phosphate and oil coating  :)

Don't know if they were P & O but focus rather on the look rather than how they got there. Believe they were hardened bolts so somewhat darker than steel. Some will used gun bluing and work them from there to get the look while others will phosphate, tumble then oil

Just what I've done successfully

The brake caliper was bare cast iron.

The brake caliper was bare cast iron.

+1 with the machined surfaces machined after casting

Those are original shields...notice the Ford logo that they have stamped in the top of the shield.

its fomoco  oval   & some calipers were blacked out painted over (69 Shelby) & some were painted silver depending on the wheel option to hide rust showing thru spoke holes.
