Topic: July 1966 door sill plates, labels

 Checking to see if my late July built, 1966 Dearborn coupe would have blue or black Ford labels on the door sill plates. My understanding is that early models used the black labels and 67' and up used the blue labels. I'm checking to see when the change over occurred, if it was indeed the start of the 67' model year production. Also, what is recommended for cleaning door sill plates?? I have searched the forum and found mild cleaners and a soft scrub brush? Are they anodized?

The '67 label is not like the later '68-up.

I have seen late production '66 model year cars with the black labels.

 Thanks Charles, my 66' coupe is next for a resto and years back I trashed alot of the worn-out parts, including the scuff plates that had major corrosion issues. When I was first driving, I remember using steel wool to clean these up, which worked nicely, but I think I have read that these were coated/anodized?? Is this true? Curious how I can clean and protect my NOS set??

The originals I have had will turn a rag black with metal polish.  If they were anodized this wouldn't happen.  I am not positive on the original coating, I know some say anodized, but I lean towards just natural aluminum or aluminum alloy.

My unrestored July 66 Dearborn coupe has black labels on the sill plates and I feel confident they have not been replaced let alone removed from the car ever.
