Didn't see any pics.  One of the first comments (produced and sold same day) seem to be an indication of the seller not being aware of the warranty plate date being the scheduled date.  Obviously a car could not be produced and put into the first owners hands on the same day, very unlikely.

These are the same folks who brought us the $5.5 mill Mustang a few years ago.  ;)

I don't see why if this car was a top notch survivor someone would drop $85k on top of the noted purchase price a year ago to "restore" it then take a huge loss.

Has 1969/70 door speaker covers.

I don't believe the story on the California Black Plates. There is clearly a different color sticker (or two) under the 1966 sticker. Some regions of California may have had "DUP" series plates in late 1965, but I doubt it.

This is a example of a person or persons that has enough information ( Ad discription and building the car correctly ) to be dangerous IMO.

When you get into the minute details, it gets worst: zerk fittings on tie rod ends; differential markings; rear spring finish; paint dabs - and the hits go on.

It's possible, but I also doubt it. Plate "DUP xxx" would have been used in 1964 and possibly into early 1965. My late 65 California registered Car has "NIS xxx". In reading the narrative about the plate, the claim is made, but without proof. Yes, the car left the state and came back, but where to.

Since the state started letting owners use older unrelated plates (to original applications) they all fall under IMHO questionable

Without proof of what dealership the car was located (better be in some pretty unpopulated area of the state) I doubt they are original.  But comparing DSO's VINs, dealerships and license plate sequences is another long thread ;)

This sellers reputation precedes him I believe.
Pacific Standard Life Insurance was an AZ based company that did not incorporate in California until June of 1969. Their  offices were located @ 3820 Chiles Rd in Davis CA for many years.
It would have been difficult to write a policy on this car in Cali three years before incorporating in the state.

Maybe it is my browser, but I didn't see any pictures of the CA black license plate nor the window sticker.

Off the car - showing a DUP 351 sequence

Stickers show a JAN and a 1966  which would be incorrect IMHO for 66 in California

As a side note - another example of paint marks gone bad. Please, no one here, copy the paint marks from the pictures in this ad   ::)

Cool paperwork - not sure why the life insurance got included though

Regarding the month JAN for 1966 would be incorrect for sure, however, I bet if the month sticker was peeled off, the registration sticker underneath would be 1973.  I believe California started having everyone attach the Month sticker in 1975.

The DUP 351 plate looks like it has at least two registration stickers under the '66 registration sticker.

I wish I could confirm this but I had hypothesized sets of license plates were issued to each county.  I had noted a lot of HOG series license plates in Ventura county.  My parent's '65 Ranch Wagon (Galaxie) wagon was one of them and it was a late (July?) '65 vehicle built in Los Angeles (I think).
