'65 Dearborn tie-down brackets finish?
« on: April 04, 2011, 09:40:39 AM »
Guys, I am posting this question here and have asked over on the VMF as well-only 1 opinion so far....and I know that some of you choose to not post over there so I thought I'd ask here:
I have purchased the tie-down brackets from Jack at Dead Nuts On and want to correctly finish them for my JULY 1965 DEARBORN car.....the answer I got over on the VMF said semi-gloss Black....I've done a search here and can't seem to find certain info for my car's time-frame in Dearborn to come up with an accurate answer on my own.......Thanks for any info you'd care to share.

Sorry that I can't give a definitive answer for you on finish. I unfortunatly don't have as wide a information base as others here on all year Mustangs.  All of the later year confirmed Dearborn tie down brackets that I have seen (69/70)were bare metal . That variation on the later year   would make me want to get further confimation of semigloss black on a 65 Dearborn bracket . Just a opinion. Bob

The ones I removed from the May '65 GT convertible that I restored 5 years ago were black.  Also a Dearborn car like yours.

Just an example, ymmv!

Probably a little more on the satin side I guess.  They didn't get a whole lot of paint.
