I have a 69 Mach 1 that is a Metuchen built "Q" code 4 speed without A/C. Car was built on Jan 10th. I have looked at a few charts saying what the ID.code should be on the coil tag and sticker but they all seem to say different things. I think it might be 418S  or a  420T but I'm not sure. Anyone know for sure ?

Thanks for the help.

First I'm guessing that you don't have a drag-pak car (SCJ) IS that correct?

Rearend code would likely help you figure that out if you don't know already

Also guess you don't have a copy of your buildsheet since it would be listed towards the upper left hand corner if you did.

If its not a SCJ and looking at other examples there is a good chance IMHO that it was a 420S From a Dec 68 buildsheet of a car similar to your car

Kevin Marti (the one that makes the engine tags) may have factory records confirming that

Jeff, this same question was asked in the 428 CJ registry forum and I replied there with the same response. I have multiple build sheets of similar cars that indicate 420S.

OK Guys, Thanks for the info. It is not an SCJ, has a 3.50 rear.

Thanks again,  Tom

Yes - nothing unusual (cross posting of questions on two or more sites)

Good to see we're both in agreement again   8)  Not unusual since we both chose to use the same resource for our answer

I was under the impression that all 1969 mustang Q codes we're built at San Jose, please advise.

They were assembled at all three plants.
