Title: 1965 Mustang coupe
Post by: Smokey 15 on January 26, 2015, 07:49:11 PM
A guy on V8 Buick is selling this. Thought there may be some interest here. I'll try to get his pictures on here as well.
Downsizing 2015. 1965 Mustang, Original 289 2bbl automatic C-4 on the floor. Car is from El Paso Texas, been stored inside my building since early 1980's. Motor turns over by hand but should be gone through . Rockers, floors including trunk, shock towers and frame rails are all solid. Original paint, Caspian Blue is faded from age & storage. Original sheetmetal is straight and solid. Bench seat with center armrest. DS mirror is on the front fender, not on the door. Doors, hood and trunk close fine, no sags or rattles. Dashpad is toast, Driver's seat needs to be reupholstered. Carpet and headliner in great shape. Package tray and kick panels are wood paneled with speaker holes in the rear shelf. Windshield is cracked. The original 289 has headers with dual exhaust and a trailer hitch. 14 inch mags and tires hold air. As I stated, been stored indoors for 30 plus years and still has the Tx tags and inspection sticker on it. One rust spot on the lower DS fender. Remember, this Stang is 50 years old. The pictures are as it sits now in my barn. Gladly store until Spring, 2015. Clear title. $4000.00. Regards, Upstaged in SW Michigan.

Beautiful car.  I still think this is one of the prettiest color combos on a '65.  Good luck with the sale!   :D

Here are some additional pictures. I like the color as well. The split bench with center armrest is different, a lot like my Buick GS's. The mirror on the DS fender, not the door means early 65, from what I have been informed of. Correct me if I am mistaken. Just thinning out my collection and making it more manageable, I hope! I am less than 10 minutes off of I-94 for viewing. The body plate is on the DS door along with a  GULF service sticker Regards, Megmaker in SW Michigan.

'The mirror on the DS fender, not the door means early 65, from what I have been informed of.'

you have been misinformed. the correct mirror placement was always on the door. has nothing to do with early or late production.

Exterior mirrors were typically put on by the dealer. Occasionally the driver's side mirror was put on the fender per the buyer's request, or a car preparer's whim. The few I've seen were 64 1/2 coupes, and possibly some early 65 production. There was no pattern I can think of, it just happened.

Thanks for the information. The mirror location still puzzles me. I cannot see or detect any mounting holes on the door. I was aware of the VIN # on the DS fender though. My sister had a 66 fastback 289 car years back. Regards, Megmaker in SW Michigan.

Ramrace, Quite a few. Most are mine that is why I am thinning out my collection. I do store a few others for Winter here in Michigan. 20 inches of snow 2 days ago. I forgot to mention that the dash is perfect, never cut or butchered up but the top pad is toast from the Texas sun. Regards, Megmaker in SW Michigan.

On it's way to Charlevoix Michigan today, after plowing a lot of snow. The new owner is a big Blue Oval collector who was impressed by the Texas sheetmetal. Regards, Megmaker in SW Michigan.
