Hi Everyone, I have a new challenge with the 68 Mercury. All my lights work except for headlights and flashers. I checked the wiring harness where the main harness connects to the headlight harness. I used my test light and had power on one connectors. But no headlights. What should I do next?
All I did on the flashers was push the steering column flasher button in and now it is stuck. Any guidance to my next step?
Still not to bad for sitting in the junk yard for 40 years. Thanks Mark

Any ideas from anyone? Thanks Mark

If it were a Mustang I would say check or substitute the headlight switch because that is where many faults are. I don't know about the 68 Mercury you are working on unless it is a Cougar in which case is basically the same as a Mustang.

Likely a bad connection at the dimmer switch.

Thanks guys. I just started to find a new headlight switch. Not an easy task being a Mercury. How would I check the dimmer switch to see if that's the problem? Thanks Mark

Unplug the dimmer switch , pull the headlight switch all the way out, and check the wire plug from the dimmer for power. Likely you will find some corrosion on the terminals inside the plug.

Thanks everyone. I tested the dimmer switch and no power. Got one from my donor car. Suddenly I have headlights. Both low and high beams. Thanks again for leading me in the right direction. Mark
