Starter Marking
« on: August 13, 2009, 09:51:44 PM »
Does anyone make an ink stamp for marking the starter or provide the service? I hate to use the decal.
Thanks

Haven't gotten that far yet- yes hate the decal and like usual its not correct.

Will likely focus on the AUTOLITE one first since that is the one I need for the current project ;)

I sent you a PM requesting your email. I have a PDF you can take to a stamp shop and get one made. You will just need to change the date code on it.

I have a couple of original starters and the markings differ from the N.O.S. or service replacement. The corner marking is on all for corners with no AAA markings. If you do decide to make a rubber stamp, don't forget to compensate for the flexing of the stamp material. Taking a picture of a stamp on a part does not make it camera ready art.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe that it reads 4AA not AAA. I believe that is the date code, 64 Jan 1st shift. The PDF I have indeed does have all 4 corner marks.

Believe the pic of the one I posted has 4AA as the date code and the bottom corners probably got missed by the stamp or rubbed off.

My mistake, I typed the date incorrectly.
