1969 Mach 1 white interior
« on: April 10, 2017, 05:20:48 PM »
Fellow members
I am looking for the correct paint finish, not color, for my Metuchen 1969 Mach with a white interior.
Do you know If the finish is a semi gloss white or more matted ? Satin ?

Thx ragnar

It was a semi-gloss like the Charcoal Metalic used on the lower metal section of the dash but since its white it does not reflect light and appears more egg shell.

Right, I agree--there shouldn't be any metal painted white on a '69 white interior.
Too much junk, too little time.

Only part I can think of is the trim bar behind and above the rear seat if its a non- fold down car.

Ragnar didn't state he was painting metal so I read that as rear interior trim panels and perhaps the metal flip door if he has a fold down car

Trap door and rear most panels on a fold down with white interior are still dark Charcoal on those cars, like the dash panels

White would be the front quarter panel covers, trim panels between the rear covers and sail panels, a pillars and roof trim

Some pictures of a deluxe white sportroof interior here

Ah yes, not used to this two tone stuff.
Always had black interior mustangs.
Seen a few painted all the same color in the back by their owners though.

69 red interior sport roofs were the same also int he back panels. Guess it saved a few cents

Sorry for delay.
Yes J-Speegle is correct.
Trap door is the charcoal metallic. All trim is white.
I ended up using the 1969 interior white paint from NPD. Weak stuff, it scratches too easily.
I went with refinishing my older panels that were painted black. Even with stripping them and cleaning them, the new white paint scratches off very easy. Disappointing, but looks okay when not scratched...

I know what you mean by scratching easily.
I painted a 66 Mustang dash with the big restoration house supplier rattle can spray paint years ago with the same issue.
Seems it's still no good even today.
Color formula sprayed with a gun at the body shop is the way to go.
