Wiper Switch Removal
« on: January 10, 2020, 09:25:43 PM »
How do you remove the knob on a 1969 Mach 1. I cannot figure out if there is a tab to push and I don't want to force it????
Does the knob come out with the shaft like the headlight switch????

Thanks and very confused...

There are pics and description of how to starting on page 8 of 13 in the pdf document.

https://www.cjponyparts.com/pub/media/images/install-pdf/install_wwmk3.pdf

They're not specific with their instructions in that you press in the little tab with the screwdriver pressure being directed  towards the knob not the dash.
What this does is stretch a little spring a tiny bit to release the grip of the knob to the shaft.

No the knob is not attached permanently to the shaft like the headlights but instead the shaft stays with the switch and comes out with it.

Though not an original - this represents the switch and basically how it looks when out

I appreciate the comments and while worried about forcing it off, the knob is only on by friction so a good pull and it popped off. From there it was a matter of unscrewing the retainer with a homemade tool I put together.
