Per Jeff's suggestion, starting a new thread here in the Parts section.
The discussion has been about the small block OEM dashpot used in Mustang year models 64-66 and 67.

Later versions do have the hole and the spring, but no clue for what reason..... ::)

Back to the question - is there a different dashpot bracket without an additional hole that was used on 64-66 small block Mustangs?

Ralf indicated above that he's not sure whether his Dashpot bracket should be with or without the spring hole.
So... I can add: Ralf's car and my car were both built at the San Jose plant on the same day, November 30 1966. My Autolite 2100 carburetor C7DF-V with date stamp 6LC on brass tag has the Dashpot bracket with the spring hole; however, there is no spring present.

I have an unmolested C6ZF-E Autolite 4100 4V with brass tag and spring hole in the bracket. Date code B 6BA.

Too early to arrive at any conclusions; but here we have one example that the 2100/4100 dashpot bracket with spring hole was produced as early as February 1966 (6BA).
