July '64 Dearborn details
« on: July 27, 2009, 10:32:02 PM »
If anyone has a June/July '64 Dearborn car, need info on the following:

-What type of firewall pad is installed, textured or dotted?
-Do the doors have the screw-on pads for the courtesy light switches?

Guessing that the dates would mean cars between approx 160000 and 210000?

If so here are a couple with the typical textured (no pattern like typical San Jose) pads

Don't have any good angles showing the door plunger plates :(

Charles,

Every 64 1/2 June / July car I have had has the textured typical dearborn pad.  On the Door Plates those were phased out when the door post design change was made for the post to have the dimple for the switch incorporated in the design.  I have seen cars built early july with the older door post on one side and the improved door post on the other side.  On my july 20th k vert the door post are the improved type and their is no plate on the original doors

I will try rounding up some pictures of the flat door post and the improved door post.  I would say if the car had the improved door posts it wouldn't have the door plate

Charles,

Thanks for your help.  I actually remember removing my original firewall pad and it looked exactly like the pictures above!

I think the guy that stored my car and parts discarded the pad.

Hopefully someone has a nice textured firewall pad for sale.

Well, we've got one question answered now.  Looks like the door switch pads can go either way.

Fun huh?  And let's not forget that's the scheduled date on the warranty plate!
