Topic: 67 Autolite 4100 and spacer gasket direction.

For a 67 289 with an Autolite 4100 4v carb.
Do the individual holes go in the back for the secondaries and the double more open hole in the front for the primaries?  So it kind of looks like a face?  Using this style both under the spacer and carb on stock manifold.  Gasket does not have Front & Back noted on it like the 4 hole type does.

I waited in hopes somebody more knowledgeable would chime in but since nobody did, I'll take a stab at it...

1st, the gasket looks wrong to me in any case...but 2nd, why do you have a 4100 on your 67 289 4v? a K-code by chance? 3rd (and others correct me if I am wrong) but having the correct gasket and carb, I believe this would not even beg your question, it would be obvious how it goes, and I believe it uses the same gasket either above or below the spacer.

 I too was waiting as I am also not the expert. But, I also believe it should match what is used below the spacer, probably a 4 idividual hole gasket. And yes, a 67' without it being a K-code would be running a 4300 for the 4v 289 (C7DF-*).

Yes should be a 4300. Let me find and dig out an original base gasket and post it. Sometimes they are even marked (stamped) with the FRONT

OK dug out a NOS carb kit (new not rebuilt) from 68

Front of the engine/carb would be to the bottom of the illustration - notice the imprint on the factory gasket

I was hoping to hear back on this one. I did some more research too, in the aftermarket (FelPro) and looked at what NPD was selling and such. It looks like the O.P. has a usable one and was understanding what way to use it, at least for use BELOW the spacer.

I had been thinking that BOTH were like the "carb to spacer gasket", or the 1st image Jeff pictured.

Really late reply to one of the questions in my OP.  Using a 4100 for a couple of reasons.  Car was original 2V car, several years ago I picked up a 4100 still in the box after a Pony Carbs rebuild, and my understanding is the 4100 is a better carb then the 4300.
