Title: Restoring 79 5.0 Brake Shields
Post by: 79mustangcobra on September 10, 2016, 06:52:05 PM
As some of you may know the 79 Mustang 5.0 Brake shields are a one year only part.

In 1980 Ford went to the 255 V8 and Ford Changed their Front Brakes. They are also different from the 1978 Model.

This is what Sandy's 76 Mile 5.0 Pace Car brake shields for reference.

We had someone selling some parts from a V8 Pace Car

I asked him if he still had the brake shields.

This is what he had.

So I went to work. I scraped and dipped in Evaporust.

After multiple days of soaking in Evaporust.

Seeing some progress. A little blue poking out.

So more soaking and here we go.

After some sanding. I used some primer and paint.

Since these are brakes and they get hot. I used Hi Temp paint.

After the primer.

After the paint. Not the best, but from what I was working with. Not too bad.
