Airbag Recall
« on: May 27, 2015, 12:46:30 PM »
Since 2005-2008 Mustangs are currently on the list would it be safe to assume that 2009 would also be effected since they are the same model/style?

NO, not all are involved in the recall. Investigation shows this:

"Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2005-2008 Ford Mustang vehicles manufactured August 1, 2004,
to June 30, 2007,
and 2005-2006 Ford GT vehicles manufactured February 11, 2005, to January 30, 2006. Upon
deployment of the driver side frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture."

I'm not sure which ones are included in the quote: "certain model year 2005-2008 Mustang vehicles manufactured August 1, 2004, to June 30, 2007"
but I have yet to receive a letter from Ford. Our GT Convertible was built 4/8/2005 so falls within the dates mentioned.

I'm not sure I wish to have them mollest my car again like the last warranty repair I had done to it  >:(

The bastards peeled out the center exhaust hangers at the trans crossmember because we mentioned a minor vibration at something like 1800 RPM's.  :o

Wish I could have known that was what they intended to do beforehand  ::)

I had my wife's 05 convertible recall completed last December. It took 2 trips, one to check to see if they are the correct color that need replacement, then ordered parts and one trip to replace. Both trips took only a short while.

The last I read, production of replacements could take months....  I suspect that is the delay in the recall.

Go to:

owner.ford.com

Click on the "Service & Maintenance" Tab

Click on "Recalls"

Enter your VIN.

Both my late models are affected, and yes, will be delayed due to the impossibly high number of replacements that will be necessary.

I guess I'll have to get a couple of goalie masks for the wife and I in the meantime..... :o

Did you get a letter, or did you inquire at the dealership?

I imagine an original owner with their new car visiting it's selling dealership for service work already, they work you right in...I imagine any of the rest of us "older cars involved" people who do not or have not regularly visited the selling dealership for any and all services needed, we'll all get nothing but a free punch on our "Tough.S___." card and told to wait "for the parts to become available". Service Departments take care of those who are "Buying" new cars first, they always have. If you have a good history of spending money with them...you move up the ladder of priority. PERIOD!

You've gotta keep those "spending their money" ALIVE before you concern yourself with those who are not! Just saying  :D

Your point is often valid and I feel the same way but, I did not purchase my car from the dealer changing the oil. I purchased it seventy miles away from a dealer not adding mark up, it was a killer deal for me. I could never figure out dealer policies on some of these items but it is strange as to who they take care of first and why they do what they do.
