Identifying Original Oil Sending Units

I'm referring specifically to the metal/black plastic capped units usually used on warning light cars. Not the bell type.

What have you guys/girls seen to identify originals? I don't recall ever seeing any with factory logos.

Any Motor, Any Year 1964.5 - 1973.

Not knowing is something I have never come to terms with.  ;)

Caps are multiple different colors sometimes identifying the supplier and or application. Let me dig out some pictures and TSB article to help with some

Have seen factory logos - just not Ford since I don't believe the produced them ;)

This is the oil sender on my 1966 San Jose 6 cylinder convert (18K build date), not sure at all if it is original, I hope it is. Could this be an original part?

Maybe Ford did have them stamped when original?

Yes could be the original - there are other versions that are stamped by a sub contractor also depending on year and application

Check the brass base for a stamping ;)

Sending units are usually date-stamped, Month/Year, like 'L5'

The 64.5 style warning light sender is the big stepped version, black.  Later, maybe when alternator systems first started being installed is the small slide-on, olive drab.  I'm sure there are variants of the small style.

For 66, have mainly seen 'KS' in script oval stamped at the top with a pressure rating, like '80' at the base and date code.
