Overflow Bottle Cap Refresh
« on: February 06, 2016, 05:58:17 PM »
I spent most of the day detailing the trunk of my '93 Feature Car today. Taking a break, I turned my attention to my overflow bottle cap. Mine was faded in spots and needed a refresh for the upcoming show season. I had looked around for something that was a color match but would allow me to control the application so I didn't make a mess with it.

I ended up with a paint pen, made by Testor's, in gloss yellow. I used a real light touch and the result was pretty good in my opinion...much better than what it had looked like. Now if I'd only taken a closeup 'before' photo....sorry about that! ::) I included an engine where you can see how faded it was. I did take a good "after" shot though!  :)

Looks nice!  Are you going to do the same w/ your oil fill cap?

My oil cap is in good shape so it doesn't need a touch up. If it did, I'm guessing that it would be a lot more difficult as the lettering on the oil cap isn't raised like on the coolant overflow cap.
