pinion bearing preload
« on: June 26, 2010, 10:11:14 AM »
I have the rear axle for my 66 Dearborn convertible almost finished and I need to set the pinion bearing preload.
It is hard to tell from the shop manual, but should the pinion assembly be removed from the third member housing, and disengaged from the ring gear, to set and check the preload properly?

Thanks Guys: John
