Can anyone help decode the engine ID number 572-J on a 1965 289 Engine Tag? None of my references have 572 listed.
Thanks, Andrew

Mannel's Small Block Ford book has it for a C Code 289, Comet/Cyclone, automatic, in 1965. No information on the suffix (J).

Thanks Randy! I had a feeling it was a Mercury specific number. The -J is really common, but I have no idea what it means. I know we have had some engine tag discussions on here before but don't recall if that was brought up.
