which ac compressor?
« on: August 17, 2012, 10:26:14 AM »
As I understand it the choice of york or techumpse at the factory was based on what was on hand at the time the car was built. How does one make that determination and does it even matter from a judging perspective?

It does matter from a judging perspective. The aluminum York compressor is distinctively different in appearance when compared to a cast iron Tecumseh compressor disregarding the materials they are made of.Some plants had a particular type/MFG used more then another. I would compare examples from the same plant and build date and or vin range if build date is not known. Sorry I will not be able to help anymore in that regard.

That's helpful, Bob.

I am finding that I enjoy the research almost as much as working on the car
