1966 Speedo Cable Seal?
« on: March 30, 2010, 08:30:07 PM »
After cleaning up my nice, believe original, speedo cable I've come to understand there should be a seal/grommet for the cable as it passes through the firewall, but when I took the car apart the seal was not there. I've looked and can't find a replacement short of buying a new repro cable assembly that has the seal. Any ideas/solutions? Lastly, what do you guys use to lube the cable? Thanks

Although not concours, others have used refrigeration line or duct insulation material...it's somewhat a spongy-type material.

Ford used a very similar foam seal like this
on the 68 to 72 vintage F series trucks for
a heater cable that goes through the firewall.
Got one at the salvage yard for mine, works great!
